Why is she such an important designer? Well, for one thing she is the coolest woman I know who can inspire equally the young generation of girls and the older more mature women. This is no easy feat, it takes a certain knowledge of a woman’s mentality (yes with all the crazy that comes with it) and not to mention the female body – to get it right EVERY TIME! First and foremost she is all about women being comfortable, that is why she puts them in comfortable shoes, beautiful yet durable fabrics and comfortable knits. Because at the end of the day a conceptual piece of art (like that of Dior by Raf Simmons) might be gorgeous for a second, have fun wearing a perforated glossy leather trench as a dress with thigh high skin tight boots all day long. You might do that for an hour, but Isabel Marant makes clothes girls and women want to change into after wearing a stiletto all day long. There is sexy and then there is Isabel Marant sexy, the french je ne sais quo that nobody can replicate unless you’ve lived in Paris.

It is so nice to be thinking about warmer knits and boots and jackets. I said it before and I will say it again – fall is the best time to dress up. It is not too hot or too cold to care much about the weather so one can mix and match summer and winter and look appropriate. Sweater to colder months is what a t-shirt is to warmer ones – a must. I chose some of my favorites for the season and they are all oversized, lighter tones, and luxurious. Leetha does amazing cashmeres including t-shirts with quality and fit of a very seasoned professional, Isabel Marant makes classics that you want to wear all day and never take off, and then there is Alexander McQueen that is a little dressier but with youthful flare. I would like to see all three in my closet this winter. (click photo to buy)

Summer sales have officially taken off on most websites from barney’s to net-a-porter. And the trick with sales is to know exactly what you want and get it in the right size, and most of my sizes go within minutes. So I found a few items that I feel will be a great addition to any wardrobe and will stay desirable for a prolonged period of time. I am not kidding myself this summer and simply going for basics that will be used everyday instead of something that I will hang in my closet and just stare at from time to time hoping an occasion will present itself. So here are my choices of real clothes for my everyday life:
Tabitha Simmons Early Ankle Boots in black from barney’s:

Saint Laurent Signature Blake Richelieu in Black Patent Leather from farfetch.com:

All this talk about masculine dressing needs an antidote of feminine touch. To me Isabel Marant is the only one who does sweet clothes without overdose with a cool edge that can be worn with the masculine pieces. My picks for summer are these amazing linen tops that at first look over embellished, only they hang just so that it looks totally nonchalant.

From the hottest styles in the front row to the catwalks, I am seeing different shades of green in every show that matters. It is another neutral that is very easy to wear in any weather. I particularly love the Balmain jackets, the Zadig & Voltaire’s jumpsuit, and the Givenchy suit. It’s a take on city camouflage, that is coming back with a vengeance.
